Inner Renewal Day | April 12
How your past shapes your drinking habits—and how you can break the cycle.
A one-day retreat for people who feel that— —alcohol isn’t the real problem—it’s been a solution.
Why This Day Exists
Many people who struggle with their alcohol use have long known, rationally speaking, that drinking less or quitting is better for them.
And yet they can’t seem to do it. Or at least not consistently.
Not because they’re weak.
Not because they lack discipline.
But because alcohol often becomes linked to old coping mechanisms.
Ways to avoid feeling stress, loss, loneliness, or inner turmoil.
Patterns that often develop early in life—without you even realizing it.
During the Inner Renewal Day we therefore do not view alcohol as an enemy,
but as a signal.
A sign that something inside you is asking for attention.
Perhaps you’ve felt rejected for a long time.
Have you experienced a loss that you’ve never truly come to terms with?
Do you feel different from others?
Or have you learned to numb your feelings rather than feel them?
Alcohol use often indicates that you are no longer listening to your basic needs, such as:
safe boundaries, healthy autonomy, recognition, love, or genuine connection.
What makes this day special
This isn’t a therapy session.
You don’t have to relive anything.
You don’t have to share any heavy stories.
What we do:
We bring clarity, calm, and movement to the underlying causes of your behavior.
In a safe, gentle, and respectful way.
You’re always in control of what you share and what you keep to yourself.
At the same time, we know—from experience—just how powerful it can be to share parts of your story.
Not because we have to, but because recognition and acknowledgment often set a huge movement in motion.
That is an essential part of recovery.
During this event, you can ask anything you want about alcohol, patterns, and trauma.
You’ll be guided by two professionals who draw not only on their knowledge but also on their personal experience.
Your guides for the day
Koos van Plateringen is an expert on overcoming alcohol addiction and understanding addiction.
He explains why alcohol can have such a powerful hold, what happens in your brain and behavior, and how to break the cycle.
Rianne van Kuil specializes in (early childhood) trauma and its impact on your life today.
She takes a body-oriented and practical approach, ensuring that change is not only understood but also felt.
Both of them also have personal experience with this.
You don’t have to explain or prove anything.
You’re not in this alone.
The Promise of Inner Renewal Day
By the end of the day:
- Do you understand why alcohol has come to play such a big role in your life?
- Can you identify which childhood experiences and patterns have influenced that?
- you feel more secure in your body, rather than just having insight in your mind
- you’ll have practical tools to help you deal with stress, anxiety, and cravings in a different way
- you’ll find that change doesn’t have to be drastic to have a profound effect
You don’t leave “resolved.”
You leave renewed.
With more control, more self-compassion, and a clear inner sense of direction.
What you'll experience today
Insight
You’ll discover how behavior develops.
How the brain, nervous system, and past experiences work together.
And why willpower alone is often not enough.
Mitigation
With Rianne’s guidance, you’ll reconnect with what once felt overwhelming—
—without having to relive it.
So that your system learns: it’s safe to let go.
Connection
With yourself.
And with others who are also walking this path.
Without shame. Without masks.
Direction
You’ll gain clarity on what your next step is
toward a more authentic, freer life.
Who is this event intended for?
This day is for you if:
- notices that alcohol always seems to be the solution
- have tried to cut down or quit before
- feels that there is “something underneath,” but doesn’t know exactly what
- are curious about yourself, without wanting to push yourself too hard
- longs for peace, clarity, and inner freedom
You don’t need to have a diagnosis.
You don’t need to have gone through anything “serious.”
Everyone carries something.
And this is a day to explore that with kindness.
Who is guiding you?
Rianne van Kuil
Trauma healer and trainer.
Rianne has a unique ability to quickly identify patterns and provide you with practical tools you can use at home.
She is open about her own alcohol use, old patterns, and pain—and about how she was able to heal herself.
